about spirit yoga
In Berlin 2004, after seven years of freelance acting and yoga teaching in Los Angeles Patricia Thielemann fulfilled her dream to establish a yoga studio and launched Spirit Yoga. Patricia spent many years developing the Spirit Yoga style from a variety of different influences, above all the "Power Vinyasa Flow" method of Ana Forrest from the USA. The style of Spirit Yoga in many ways bridges the gap between the traditional yoga techniques of the East and the styles more popular in the States because as Patricia believes "the people of today's world in Berlin and Europe think and feel neither like an American or an Indian." The Spirit Yoga style synchronises powerful yoga exercises (asanas) of Hatha Yoga with a special breathing technique from the Ujjayi. The single asanas are joined and flow together in order to release tension and dissolve any blockages. This unique style is dynamic and very precise however practiced to above all avoid injury and provide every individual with the opportunity to deepen their own individual yoga experience. With the help of Spirit Yoga, connections between the body, mind and soul can be developed and strengthened helping you to really get to know your own body. The Spirit Yoga technique is accessible to all; people of all ages and abilities from beginner to experienced yoga teacher level are very welcome to enjoy and benefit from the method we teach in our classes. The only thing we ask is that you are ready to do a little something that's good for your body and to want to work on harmonizing body, your mind and soul. There is a huge variety of positive changes that can be brought about by yoga and it's always different for each individual.
